How do I start a fundraiser? 

Easy! If you would like to create or donate to a fundraising campaign, please click here and follow the on-screen prompts to select your charity and set up your fundraising page. 


How long does it take to set up my fundraising page? 

We have partnered with GoFundraise for a seamless experience, so setting up your fundraising page takes just a few minutes!  

If you have already registered, please click here to create your page. After you have created your page, you can share it with your friends and family to start fundraising for your chosen cause! 

You can also opt to fundraise when you register, simply select 'yes' to the question: “Do you want to fundraise?”. Fundraising pages and confirmation emails will be generated every Wednesday. (For example, if you register a Friday and opt in to create a fundraising page; the following Wednesday your fundraising page will be setup and you will receive an email confirmation from GoFundraise with next steps to login and customize your page) 

After you have selected your charity and created your page, you can share it with your friends and family to start fundraising for your chosen cause. 


What charities can I fundraise for? 

You can fundraise for our charity partners listed here.

You can also select to support any charity listed here.

If you would like to fundraise for a charity that is not yet listed, you can nominate to add them here.


What if the cause or charity I want to fundraise for is not on the charity page? 

You can help tell the charity about this event by filling out our charity nomination form. Our fundraising partners at GoFundraise will then reach out to your nominated charity to encourage them to set up so you can raise funds for them. Nominate a charity here.


How can I access my Fundraising page? 

To find your page: 

Your fundraising page url will be included in the confirmation email from GoFundraise. If you do not have access to that email, you can follow these steps: 

1. Enter your name in the search bar on this page and click ‘Search’ 

2. Once the page refreshes, click the thumbnail to open your page 

To login to your page: 

1. Once you have opened your fundraising page, click the person icon in the top right corner, then click ‘Login’ 

2. Login using the email address you registered for the Berkeley Half Marathon with.  

3. The page will refresh and you will be able to edit your page, message donors, add blog posts, connect fitness trackers, etc. 


I can't find my Fundraising Activation email, how do I find it? 

Fundraising pages and confirmation emails will be generated every Wednesday. For example, if you register to run on a Friday and opt in to create a fundraising page, the following Wednesday your fundraising page will be setup and you will receive an email confirmation from GoFundraise with next steps to login and customize your page.

 

What if I need assistance? 

Our partners at GoFundraise are available to answer any questions you or your donors may have. Please email them at support@gofundraise.com. Additional contact information listed here. The GoFundraise support team works 7 days a week, to ensure you receive a quick response.

I’ve never fundraised before, what should I do? 

We are here to support you! To help you successfully fundraise for your chosen cause, we have put together 6 EASY tips to help you get started. 

1. Make a donation yourself. The first donation is the most important, your supporters will look at your first donation to determine how much to donate. This will also show that you’re dedicated to your cause. 

2. Ask your biggest potential donors first. Reaching out to your close family, or to people you think are likely to donate a large amount will encourage others to increase the amount that they give. Before donating, most people look at your recent donations to determine how much to give.

3. Share your page on Facebook and encourage your friends to share it as well. For the best results, include a photo of yourself training or getting ready for the San Francisco Marathon, if you can.

4. Email everyone you know. This will boost your total right away! Don’t forget to send a reminder email as well – often the reminder will raise even more than the first email! 

5. Personalize your fundraising page with a photo and some information about why you’ve chosen to fundraise for your cause. For more information on how to personalize your fundraising page, please click here. 

6. Be refreshingly different! Dare yourself to do something crazy when you reach your target (ex: dye your hair, shave your head, bungee jump, etc). Research shows that 98% of fundraisers who create their own milestones, go on to reach their target!
